Property is taxed according to millage rates assessed by different government entities. In Gwinnett County, these normally include state, county, county bond, the detention center bond, schools, school bond, recreation and cities (where applicable).
One "mill" equals $1.00 of property taxes for every $1,000 of assessed valuation. The rates of several taxing authorities usually combine to make up your total tax bill.
